I want to train....but I need to get in shape first!  ??

You know how every industry has like those inside jokes.

Home renovation customer 🔨  : “It’s a small job. Shouldn’t take long at all.”

Real Estate Home Buyer 🏡 : “I know it’s listed for $200,00, you think they’ll take $100,00?”


Jiu-Jitsu’s Version: “Oh yeah man. I’m definitely gonna train. I just need to get in shape for first.”

So let me get this straight. Your plan before you can learn a martial art that is specifically designed for a smaller opponent to defeat a larger opponent is to get jacked and thus disprove the entire concept of the art in which you want to learn?

Am I understanding that correctly. 🤔



Did my sarcasm come through enough? I certainly hope so. Because that concept I'm laying it on pretty thick! (kudos if you picked up the Tommy Boy reference 😆)

And purely elite human specimens walk through our door…. Every one of them mentioned that it was unlike any other work out they had ever done. 😓 

There is really no way to prepare for it....other than doing Jiu-Jitsu.

And let’s be honest. If you were actually going to get in the shape. You wouldn’t be talking about it for months. You would’ve already been in shape and gotten on the team.

So let’s kill two birds with one stone. Use Jiu-Jitsu to help you get in shape in the process you can learn self-defense as well!!
